Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in accounting and bookkeeping roles in a range of industries. It provides the skills to perform a range of routine tasks, including preparing and lodging business activity statements (BAS) and other financial reports.

Individuals at this level use communication skills to support individuals and teams and may plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyze and synthesize information from a variety of sources.

Course Information

  • Course Duration: 52 weeks (1 year/4 terms) that includes 40 study weeks and 12 holiday weeks.
  • Delivery Mode: Face-to-face in the classroom.
  • Study Load: 20 hours of classes (supervised training and assessment activities on campus) and 10 hours of self-paced learning (homework) every week.
  • Location: Level 1, 269-273 Bigge Street, Liverpool, NSW 2170.

Entry Requirements

Prior to commencing this qualification, an individual must have completed the following units of competency (or equivalent):

  • FNSACC321 – Process financial transactions and extract interim reports

  • FNSACC322 – Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers

  • FNSACC418 – Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry

  • FNSACC421 – Prepare financial reports (equivalent to BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports)

These competencies may have been achieved through completion of the following (or their equivalent):

  • FNSSS00014 – Accounting Principles Skill Set; or

  • FNS40222 – Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping

St Martin College Additional Entry Requirements (International Students)

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Have completed at least the equivalent of Year 12 education.

  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.

  • Participate in an LLND (Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills) assessment, if applicable, to demonstrate readiness and capacity to undertake the course.

  • Have an overall IELTS score of 6.0 or higher, with no individual band score less than 5.5 (test results must be within the last two (2) years).

    English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:

    • Education in an English-speaking country for at least five (5) years; or

    • Completion of at least six (6) months of an AQF Level 3 or higher course at an Australian RTO within the last two (2) years; or

    • Successful completion of an ELICOS course at Upper Intermediate level or above; or

    • Successful completion of an English Placement Test at St Martin College.

Notes

  • LLND requirements may be exempted in specific cases. This will be reviewed during the application assessment process, and applicants will be informed if applicable.

  • Other English language tests (e.g., PTE, TOEFL) are accepted. Students must provide results for confirmation that they are equivalent to a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or higher.
